Website marketing services? Why on earth would you need to spend your hard-earned money on fluff like that? I mean, you’ve already coughed up a substantial amount getting your website built.
But the problem with a large number of small business sites is they don’t follow the fundamental core principles of SEO North Brisbane internet marketing and website design. If you’re website falls into this category, then read on as I have some basic tips for you to follow. Good news though, your site does not have to be perfect. But please don’t accept one that sucks.
Here are some things to avoid if you don’t want your website to fail. I hope that you’re not making these mistakes.
Too Many Adverts
This really annoys most visitors. They may not even be there to buy and even if they are, they don’t want to be force-fed advertising.
Hard to Navigate
If your visitor can’t easily work out how to find whatever it is they’re seeking, they’ll be gone — forever.
No Clear and Concise Call to Action
Your landing page really needs to instruct the visitor exactly what it is that you want them to do, and the call to action should feature prominently so that your visitor is in no doubt as to what they should do.
Cheap looking graphics, unaligned content, badly sized photos, small hard-to-read font, spelling mistakes and incorrect punctuation — you get the picture. Don’t get me wrong though, your site doesn’t have to be flashy with all of the “bells and whistles”. In fact, I’m a firm believer in keeping websites simple and professional, especially those for small businesses.
Lack of Compelling, Valuable Content
In most cases, web pages with a disproportionate amount of images to text are frowned upon, not only by your human visitors, but also by the search engine’s robot visitors, affecting your search engine positioning.
Where is the Shopping Cart?
Unbelievably, there are a lot of sites which make it difficult for people to buy! For example, if they have to click through page after page to make a purchase, they will soon get bored and hit the back button. Make it as easy as possible for your visitors.
No Contact Us Page
This should go without saying. You’re in business, make it easy for your customers to contact you. Make sure you include your email address or a contact form, your physical address and your phone number.
Other Missing Pages
As you can see, it’s really not that difficult to get the fundamentals right on your website. The only problem is that sometimes it’s hard to find the time.
